McCarty June 27, 1917 Died – Death of Mrs. Mary Ballheimer-Mrs. Mary Ballheimer, widow of the late Christian Ballheimer, died suddenly Sunday morning at her home on Union Street. She had been in failing health the past month but felt unusually well and helped to do the housework Saturday evening. Sunday morning she complained of not feeling well and expired suddenly, acute indigestion was given as the cause of death. Mrs. Ballheimer was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Trucksass and was born March 20, 1830, on a farm north of town. Upon being united in marriage with Christian Ballheimer the couple moved to Pittsburgh. During the war the husband enlisted and was killed in battle in 1861. After his death the widow and children came to Columbiana where she has since resided. She was a member of the ladies circle of the G. A. R. and a highly respected lady. She is survived by two children, Mrs. James Agnew, with whom she lived, and Arthur Ballheimer of Chicago. The latter arrived here just after his mother's death on his annual visit. Two brothers and three sisters survive. Funeral services were held from the late home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E. P. Wyckoff being officiating clergyman and interment was had at the Columbiana Cemetery. Obituaty provided by R D Baith Aug 13, 2013 In 1900 she stated she was the widowed and mother of 2 children - both living. She was head of house with James Agnew and daughter in house. Per 1880 and 1870 census she was widowed had a son Arthur Ballheimer b 1858 in PA. Her spouse served in Civil War under Union - PA. It appears he was killed or died related as there is pension application for him. A seperate memorial will be created for him as his burial unknown.
