ADAM GREENWALT DIES HERE FRIDAY Mrs. Adam Greenwalt, 87 years old, passed away at her home in this city Friday evening, at 5:30, following a long illness. It was while taking her evening meal, consisting of a glass of milk and toast with soft boiled egg, served to her by her daughter, Mrs. Osterloh, she gasped and all life was extinct. She has been almost bedfast since last December. The decline in health is attributed to dropsy and age. Mrs. Greenwalt was the mother of sixteen children. Of these eight survive to mourn her passing. The husband passed away fifteen years ago on March 12th. During his lifetime he had reminded her that she would outlive him fifteen years. This premonition all but came true. She lived the fifteen years plus eight days. Born in West Prussia in Europe on February 2, 1849, she grew to womanhood there and was married to Adam Greenwalt. While she remained in her native country the husband emigrated to this country to make a home. He stopped first in Pennsylvania and sent for the wife and their first born, a son, who at the age of seven suffered fatal burns. Heeding the call of the west the family headed on the journey shortly after the year 1880 and Pawnee County was their objective. Here they remained for several years, removing to a farm two and one-half miles southwest of St. Paul, upon which they made their home until 25 years ago when they retired to this city into the home in which ended her life's work. Those who survive to mourn her passing are: Zachary of Ord, Mrs. Mary Carkoski of Ansley, Cashmere of Ord, George of Ord, Effie Lamprecht of Comstock, Mrs. Helen Osterloh of Omaha, Thomas of Scottsbluff and William of Ord. One sister survives her. Funeral services were held from the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in this city on Monday morning at 10 o'clock and burial made in the Catholic cemetery beside the husband, her father and mother, and a brother. The pallbearers were all grandsons of the departed lady. The children of Mrs. Greenwalt have the sympathy of friends in their hour of grief.
