Mary had not been feeling well for a week and was bedfast only three days, and the seriousness of her condition was not realized until within a few hours of her death. Loving parents, relatives and dear friends, did all in their power for her, but of no avail. The grim Reaper came and reaped the beautiful flower, just opening to such a precious reality, leaving only the memory of a dear daughter and gentle sister. The wounds inflicted by the scroll of death sent by an unseen angel, will be a long time healing. Ah, indeed, how keenly will the fireside feel the vacant chair, but they are comforted by their faith in immortal life, and that this separation is not forever, but another meeting after this life's conflict, on the golden shore, where parting will be no more. Truly death loves a shining mark. Mary was loved by all who knew her. She always had bright smile and kind word for every body. Her untimely death leaves a vacancy in the family which never can be filled and aching hearts whose anguish time alone can soften. The influence of her sweet life will be a guide to strengthen those who with breaking hearts bow in humble submission to a power far higher than their own. In the eternal realms Mary is at rest forevermore. The funeral service was held Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the church at Boyle, where Mary had always attended Sunday School. The church was filled with sorrowing friends. Rev. Kimball of the Christian church at Valley Falls, conducted the services. In a beautiful white casket covered with flowers, the body was laid to rest in the Farrar cemetery. She leaves her grief stricken parents, three brothers and one sister and a host of friends to mourn for her who was so good and true.
