Mary married Joseph Baltzer Hoover on Nov. 29, 1838 in St.Patrick's Church in Newry, Blair County, Pennsylvania. Mrs.Hoover, with her husband, came to Kansas from the state of Iowa in the year 1872 and located on a farm north of Idana and lived there until 1899 when they moved to a farm eight miles northwest of Clay Center. The two years previous to their moving to Easton the family lived in Clay Center. While making their home at Easton and about eight years ago on March 28, 1901 Joseph passed away. The mother left to mourn her death, two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth (Lizzy) Wycoff of Canada, Ms. Cecilia Hoover of Easton; three sons, Charles of Greenleaf, Anthony of Easton, and Joseph A. of Wichita. Funeral services were held at the Church at Easton Sunday afternoon and the body bought to Clay Center for burial. Short services were conducted at the grave by Father Dress of Clay Center Catholic Church. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery where the husband and father is buried. The Catholic section is in the northeast part of the cemetery.
