Description	:	Mary Orendorf was born 1 January, 1868, in Bittinger, MD the third child of Elias Orendorf and Lydia Beachy Orendorf. She married Christian L Beitzel in 1898. The couple lived with the Beitzel family on Orendorf Road at Bittinger. Also in the home were father Lewis, brother Dan and Dan's wife Annie and two young children Carrie and Edwin. In those days women had their children at home. When Mary was pregnant and ready to birth her child, the Child was unable to come thru the Birth canal. Mary suffered for some days, but to no avail. The couple lived with the Beitzel family on Orendorf Road at Bittinger. Also in the home were father Lewis, brother Dan and Dan's wife Annie and two young children Carrie and Edwin. She died without the child being born. Young Edwin Beitzel was 7 years old, but he remembered the ordeal Mary went thru and the fact that in the remote village at Bittinger, they were not able to get medical help for her in time. Mary was only 31 yrs 7 months 8 days of age. She left a grieving husband and stunned family. She was buried in Cherry Glade Cemetery on Foxtown Road. The Republican News paper carried mention of Mary's death in the August 18, 1899 edition, No mention was made of the cause of death, as such information was not considered proper to discuss publicly.
