Highland Recorder April 17, 1903 After a long and painful illness, Mrs. Mary P. Clendenen, wife of he late Jacob F. Clendenen, died at her Green Hill home on Thursday morning, last, aged about 70 years. While her death was not a surprise to those who knew of her protracted illness, yet the announcement was received with much regret by a host of friends and relatives. She was a daughter of Peter Bird, deceased, and is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Martha Mustoe of Webster county, W. Va. and Mrs. Maggie Ryder, of Frost, the and the latter being present during the closing hours of her sister's life. Mrs. Clendennen was twice married. The first union being with Dr. J.H. Byrd, in his day one of the best known physicians of the county. After his death, and perhaps ten years ago, she became the second wife of J. F. Clendenen, Esq., whose death occurred within the last two years. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place from Green Hill church, and was conducted by Rev. W.S. Trimble, she having long been a member of the Presbyterian church, of which he is pastor. Highland Recorder May 22, 1903 EXECUTORS SALE At the late residence of Mary P. Clendenen, dec'd, at Green Hill. Va. on Thursday the 28th day of May 1903, I will offer at public sale the personal property of Mrs. Clendenen.
