On September 4, 1896, Mary Pearl McClure was united in marriage to Peter Sorgenfrei in Fullerton, Nebr. Mary Pearl Sorgenfrei, daughter of Viona F. and Daniel A. McClure, was born December 5, 1874 in Big Rapids, Michigan. Passed away at the Central City hospital on Febr. 4, 1948 at the age of seventy-three years, one month and twenty-nine days. On September 4, 1896, Mary Pearl McClure was united in marriage to Peter Sorgenfrei in Fullerton, Nebr. The couple spent their entire married life in Nance County, during which time Mr. Sorgenfrei was actively engaged in farming. He, Mr. Sorgenfrei, having passed away in 1916, leaving his wife to care for the family of small children. This task was of tremendous size but it didn't discourage Mrs. Sorgenfrei; for she met it bravely and certainly fulfilled all the duties of a mother. In 1944 Mrs. Sorgenfrei moved to Central City, where she established her home living alone until she was taken to the hospital on the 31st of January 1948. Those left to mourn her passing are: three daughters and three sons: Mrs. Glenn Snodgrass, Mrs. Martin Stone, and Mrs. Louise Lapp, Peter Sorgenfrei, Harold Sorgenfrei, all of Tacoma, Washington, and Dan Sorgenfrei of Sutton, Nebraska. Four brothers: Walter, William Irvin and Sam McClure. One sister: Elizabeth; seventeen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a wealth of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away in 1916, one daughter, one grandson and both parents. The Palmer Journal, February 12, 1948, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney
