Description	:	Mary R. Amen, 87, of Sterling, died Thursday Sept. 25, 1997 in Sterling. Visitation and viewing will begin at 12 noon Sunday, Sept. 28, 1997 at the Chaney Walters Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 1997 at Zion United Church of Christ. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Elli Elliott officiating. Mrs. Amen was born Feb.3, 1910 in Lincoln, Neb. to Jacob Ring and Katherine Elizabeth Hettinger. She moved with her family toSterling at the age of two. She attended Sterling schools and the Sterling Business College. She married Jacob Amen on April 3, 1932 in Sterling. They farmed in the Iliff and Sterling area where she worked as a homemaker. They moved to Sterling in 1961 and she went to work for the school district in Food Service. She retired in 1975. They remained in Sterling where Mary became involved in church functions, garden ing, and cooking. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, an active member and officer in the Priscilla Circle and was a Sunday School Teacher. She is survived by her children: Alan and wife Delores Amen of Lakewood, Colo.; Charles Amen of Sterling; Betty and husband Raymond Schlueter of Sterling; and Jeanne Crouch of Sterling; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jacob in 1996, daughter Nancy K. Amen in 1941, three brothers and one sister.
