Read More	Mary Young Robinson Armstrong After a lingering illness of many months, Mrs. Mary Armstrong died at her home in East Cascade last Friday. This good lady was one of the most beloved women in Cascade, and regardless of creed and nationality, all were deeply concerned in her welfare from day to day. Mrs. Armstrong's condition was seriously affected during this illness because of a fall and injury to her hip which she sustained during the past year. Her long life in Cascade, more than fifty-two years, made her acquaintance wide and her smile and cheerful demeanor will long be cherished by the generations of boys and girls, now men and women, who were fortunate in having known her, and her death, while a great physical relief for one who suffered keenly was nevertheless a sorrowful event in this community. Mary Young, daughter of John Young and Mary Boyd, was born March 27, 1833, at Newtonards, County Down, Ireland. She was married to Adam Robinson September 2, 1861. They came to America and to Cascade, Iowa, in the fall of 1870. Adam Robinson died December 1, 1894, and on September 18, 1897, she was married to James Armstrong, who survives her. She is also survived by her nephew, Rev. Hugh Robinson, of Edgington, Ill., whom she took to raise when he was nine months old. Except for two years spent on a farm in Scotch Grove, Mrs. Armstrong had lived in Cascade for fifty-two years. She was a women of great Christian faith and a member of the Presbyterian Church, but she was broad and liberal, and counted both Catholic and Protestants among her closet and dearest friends, and the sweetness of her character was the charm of her personality, and as her friends looked upon her form for the last time on Sunday last there came to their mind the thought of the poet----- We look upon this quiet form and call This death---the end of earthly life and love; In lands beyond the sunset gates of gold; Life, that is freed from all Time's pain and ills; Life, that is one eternal day of joy in God's hereafter. The funeral services were held from the residence to the Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon at 1:30, and the church was wholly inadequate to hold the large concourse of people, who came to pay their last tribute of respect to their old neighbor and friend. The services were conducted by Rev. James Ostema, who preached an eloquent and impressive sermon; in which the life of the deceased was expressively typical of the characteristics of Job. The honorary pallbearers were William Fagan, William Fairburn, A. W. Aitchison, George W. Craft, Charles Pierce, A. P. Hamil, Thomas Kingsley and Reuben Hawkins. The active casket bearers were Ezra Martin, Charles Pierce Jr., Charles Hamil, Gerald Hamil, Art Hawkins and Fletcher Aitchison. CASCADE PIONEER Thursday, January 25, 1923 p. 4
