Ruth was born on May 16, 1920 in Stokes County to the late Samuel Franklin and Mary Frances Tuttle Hill, and was the last of eight children. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Ruth’s favorite pastime was working in her flower garden. She was a homemaker and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. Ruth was born on May 16, 1920 in Stokes County to the late Samuel Franklin and Mary Frances Tuttle Hill, and was the last of eight children. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. Ruth’s favorite pastime was working in her flower garden. She was a homemaker and was of the Primitive Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death her husband: Naz Abbott, two sisters: Lula Jane Hill and Martha Ann Hill, five brothers: Luther, Luicoe, John, George and Gid Hill. Mary is survived by her loving children: Jewel Bowman (Tony) of King, Faye Hunter (Bill) of Pilot Mountain, Donnie Abbott (Sarah Jo), Frankie Abbott (Patricia) and Deborah White (Keith) all of Walnut Cove, eight grandchildren: Tamara Davis, Dwayne Sykes, Tudor Abbott, Lonette Pennington, Chris Hall, Mary Ann Hall, Jeff Brown and Ashley Duncan, eleven great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Nina Hill. There will be an 2:00 pm funeral service Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Palmyra United Methodist Church with Rev. Justin Duncan and Elder Dan Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Saturday May 13, 2017 at Palmyra United Methodist Church and other times at the home of her son Frankie. Burroughs Funeral Home of Walnut Cove*
