She was operated on the next day by Dr. Delfs of Shickley and Dr. Bixby of Geneva, but the operation could not save her life. Mary. S. Steele was born in Holmes county, Ohio, April 11, 1856. She was married to Samuel Logsdon November 5, 1878, at Bloomfield, O. Mr. and Mrs. Logsdon came to Fillmore county, Nebraska, the same year and have since resided most of the time on their farm in Hamilton township. Mrs. Logsdon was a member of the Methodist church of Shickley and of the Shickley Royal Neighbor lodge. The deceased is survived by her husband and four children, Mrs. J. R. Merryman of Huntley, Mrs. F. B. Fitch of Merriman, Mrs. Wallace Chestnut of Geneva and Miss Moneta Logsdon. Two sisters, Mrs. Johnathan Cox of Millersburg, O., and Mrs. Mag Mullet of Pilot Grove, Mo., and one brother Frank Steele of Leland, O., also survive. The funeral service was held at the Methodist church at Geneva at 3 p. m. Wednesday, May 22, and was conducted by a former pastor of the deceased, Rev. E. B. Maxey of Hardy. Music was furnished by the Methodist choir and Mrs. Wrightsman of Shickley sang a solo. The service was largely attended. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. Among the relatives and friends who came from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. Kiester and daughter Inez of Denver, Mrs. George Carter of Denver, Mr. Skinner and daughter; Mrs. Essom of North Bend, Mrs. J. L. King and Mrs. J. H. King of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Dale of Lincoln. Mrs. Logsdon was highly respected and loved by all who knew her. A very wide circle of friends were pained and shocked when they learned of her sudden critical illness and their sympathy goes out to the bereaved husband and children in their loss of a devoted wife and mother. She was united in marriage to Samuel Logsdon in Bloomfield, Ohio, November 5, 1878. The following spring they came to the place they have made their home and have lived there continuously since except for about three months residence in Geneva last summer. Four daughters were born to bless and gladden this home, Daisy Almeda, Francis Marion, Moneta Bae and Bernice Marie, all of whom were with her in her last illness. There are five grandchildren, three girls and two boys. Mrs. Logsdon was converted in 1880 and united with the M. E. Church organized at the schoolhouse near the home and has been an honored and useful member of this church until her death. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides husband and children, two sisters, Mrs. Johnathan Cox of Millersburg, Ohio, and Mrs. Joe Mullet of Pilot Grove, Mo., and one brothers, Francis Steel, of LeLand, Ohio, also a large host of neighbors and friends, who have loved her for her deeds of kindness and life of sacrifice and service. She was always a friend in need to everyone, a loving and loyal helpmate, a home-maker and mother of the highest Christian character and usefulness. We shall sadly miss her, but look to Him for comfort who “carries our grief” and has promised to bring His own together forever in the land of fadeless day. The funeral services were conducted from the home at 2 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. E. B. Maxcy of Hardy, and Rev. Tipton of Shickley, and the funeral was held at the Geneva M. E.
