Eucharistic Minister will be Jerry Brickner and lector will be Chuck Simon. Mass servers will be Derick Arbach, Jeff Hageman, and Dana Hageman. Offertory gift bearers will be Chelsea Hageman and Jalessa Hageman. Placing the pall on the casket will be Patti Hageman, Jodi Rausch, Tasha Weber, Traci Karst, and Mindy Greenfield. There will be a Wake Service at the church 7:00 PM Thursday with visitation beginning 5:00 PM. The wake vocalist will be Vonnie Reuer. Mary Stuwe, daughter of Elizabeth (Kleinemas), and Fred Stuwe, was born February 24, 1915 at West Point, NE. As a little girl, the family relocated to Hoven. Mary received her formal education at St. Bernard's Catholic School. She then worked as a hired girl at her home and for neighboring families. Mary married Bernard "Ben" Seurer at Hoven on November 16, 1938. They settled on a farm 2 miles north of Hoven and later lived briefly on a farm 1 mile south of Hoven. In 1947, they moved into Hoven where Mary lived the remainder of her life. Ben worked as a bulk fuel agent for Standard Oil in Hoven and Mary kept busy with her family and in the community. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Altar Society, and St. Mary's Society. She served as president of the Holy Infant Hospital Auxiliary, belonged to the Hoven Service Club, the Hoven Senior Citizens, and the Hoven Country Club. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, creating hundreds of quilts over the years. She was a prolific walker which probably partly explained her longevity and also exhibited a strong faith, lighting many candles for those in need. In 1994, Mary received two awards--the Hoven Service Club's Distinguished Service Award and the Hoven School's fan of the year—which recognized her contributions to the Hoven community. Mainly, though, Mary's children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her life. Mary is survived by 3 sons—Don Seurer, Jerry (Janet) Seurer, and Chuck (Barb) Seurer all of Hoven; 1 daughter Susie (Rick) Karst of Hoven; 2 sisters—Louise Gerber of Orange, CA and Ceil Edrich of Hoven; 12 Grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father on November 10, 1936, her mother on August 11, 1948, her husband on October 13, 2000, an infant daughter (Mary), 3 sisters, and 5 brothers. Casketbearers will be Doug Seurer of Eagle, CO, Tim Seurer of Hoven, Dawn West of Tea, SD, Jamie Seurer of Duncan, OK, Chad Karst of Denver, CO, and Tate Karst of Harrisburg, SD. Lien Funeral Home, Bowdle, is in charge of arrangements.
