She was the daughter of the late Oscar Pennington and Anne Kirk Pennington. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 48 years, Gwylem, “Bill” Evans of Plano, TX, and 2 of her 5 siblings, Enid (Basil) Grigsby and Udene (Doyne) Boatright and her dearest friend, Beverly Tankersly Smith. She is survived by:1 daughter: Susan Kaye (Fred) Morse of Plano, TX and son, Dennis (Ginger) Evans of Sherwood, AR., Siblings: Kirk (Betty) Pennington, Imogene and the late Kenneth Couch, Carol and the late Ed Tucker, as well as fourteen nieces and nephews. Grandchildren: Rob, (Sandy) McAuley, Jamie (Dustin) List, Heather Evans and fiancé Jake Collins, Sara Sams and fiancé John LeCompt, and Phillip (Marie) Evans. Great grandchildren: Shelby (Christopher) Gilcrease, John Robert McAuley, Charley and Jacob List, Koby, Kaleb and Klemmie Evans, Coby Collins, Cash & Torrance Lecompt. Great-great grandchildren: Owen and Matilda Gilcrease. Known to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “ Gingee” or “ Little G,” she loved sharing stories of growing up in hard but simpler times, surrounded by a large loving family on the farm in Northwest Arkansas, in the 1920’s and 30’s. She learned to play tennis just before tuning 50 and was on several tennis teams, including her beloved group at Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson, Texas. She was an avid reader and loved to watch movies on TCM. She spent the last 8 years at Preston Place Senior Independent Living and appreciated her life and friends there, the social activities and lunch at The Veranda daily. She had wonderful memories of living in Fort Smith for over 20 years, where she was a member of Fort Smith First Baptist Church, an active member of WMU, a Sunday School Teacher and choir member. She was lovingly devoted to her close circle of friends in Fort Smith and often reminisced on their frequent shopping trips, lunches, long vacations and large birthday celebrations’ they shared together, which no one missed. Funeral service for Ms. Evans was held on Saturday September 17th, 2016, at Martin Funeral Home in Mansfield, Arkansas.
