Death resulted from old age complications. She was 87 years, nine months and eight days of age at death. Mary Svenson was born in Aneboda, Sweden on the 24th day of October, 1853. She spent her early life in that country and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith there. She came to America in 1880. On April 23, 1882 she was united in marriage to Charles Alfred Bard and to this union eight children were born. The husband and three children preceded her in death. Mr. Bard passed away May 16, 1928. The eldest daughter, Mrs. William Scheihing died in 1916 and a son and daughter died in infancy. In the spring of 1884 together with her husband and family she came to Nebraska, locating in Knox County and since then Creighton has been her home the greater part of the time. Upon coming to Knox County Mrs. Bard united with the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran church at Wausa and lived a Christian life. Mrs. Bard was numbered among the early Knox County residents whose ranks are fast thinning. Her greatest interest centered around her home life where she enjoyed the companionship of those near and dear to her, as well as an intimate circle of friends. Left to mourn are two daughters and three sons; Mrs. Elmer E. Thompson, Lebanon, Kansas, Mrs. George S. Jewett, Hood River, Oregon, J. Martin Bard, Sioux City, Aaron E. Bard, Sioux City and Abel E. Bard, Omaha; also eight grandchildren; Joel M. and Dean C. Bard, Sioux City, Charles Scheihing, Cadillac, Mich., Barbara E, Patricia, Victoria Ann and Jack W. Bard, Omaha, Bette Bard Jewett and Mrs. E.A.Market, Hood River, Ore; also two great grandchildren, Jimmie E and Danny Markel, Hood River, Ore. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the M.E. church, the pastor, Rev. John B. Roe, bringing the message. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery. Pallbearers were; W.W.Fickling, W.F.
