She graduated from St. Joe’s School in DeWitt, in May of 1941 and from Mount Saint Claire College, Clinton, with a degree in teaching. Teresa was born Mary Teresa McGarry, June 10, 1923 in Clinton, Iowa, to Leo and Margaret (Lillis) McGarry. She graduated from St. Joe’s School in DeWitt, in May of 1941 and from Mount Saint Claire College, Clinton, with a degree in teaching. Teresa taught school for several years at Quinn School in Washington Township. She married Winston Green, August 18, 1945 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Villa Nova, Iowa. The couple farmed at rural Grand Mound, where they raised their 9 children. Winston preceded Teresa in death December 13, 1995. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Welton, St. Anne's Altar and Rosary Society and Clinton County Farm Bureau. Teresa loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and was known by her family and friends as "Tigger". She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and gardening. Surviving are her children, Karen (Dave) Lilly, Pawleys Island, South Carolina, Linda (Dr. Phil) Nonnenmann, Rock Island, Illinois, Anne (Tim) Johnson, Bettendorf, Iowa, Ruth (Dr. Paul) Crowley, Wooster, Ohio, Jerry (Jeannie) Green, Columbia, Missouri, Joan Lundquist, Ottawa, Illinois, Gene (Janet) Green, DeWitt, Iowa, Judy (Dr. Clark) Obr, Coralville, Iowa, Martin Green, Grand Mound; 19 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice Stroesser, Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, Leon (Marianne) McGarry, DeWitt. In addition to her husband, Winston, Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Chad Johnson, a sister, Geraldine Stevenson and a brother-in-law, Dan Stroesser. The family will greet relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday, with a rosary at 2:30 p.m. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2007 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Welton. The Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness and the Rev. Fr. David Brownfield concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, DeWitt. (Source: Schultz Funeral Home)
