Read More	Variation of maiden name: Vrzak Two children died before 1900 ------------------------------------------- As mentioned in these columns last week, Mrs. Anton Spilinek, Sr., died at her home in Elba, Nebraska on Thursday morning, July 12, 1906. She was taken sick ten days before her death, rheumatism being the trouble, other complications arising the end soon arrived. She was born in Bohemia August 15, 1837, and had she lived until next month she would have reached her sixty-ninth birthday. She was married to Anton Spilinek in the year 1857, and they made their home there until 1874 when they came to America and settled in Omaha, Nebraska, where they resided until 1876, when they removed to Howard County, Nebraska, settling on a farm west of where Cotesfield now stands. They resided there until a few years ago when they removed to Elba and had settled down to enjoy life after a hard struggle through the early days of pioneer life. One son and five daughters were born to this union. The son, Anton, Jr., Mrs. Katie Tuma, Mrs. Mary Halla and Mrs. Josie Weiker survive, two girls dying in their infancy in Bohemia. The deceased was a hard working woman and she never could rest while anything remained undone. She was a good loyal wife and a devoted mother, bringing up her children in such a manner as to make them good men and women and respected by all. The lonely old man that is left alone in the evening of life has the sympathy of all. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, services being held in the U.B. church, Rev. William Tooley officiating. The casket was covered with a abundance of flowers. The remains were interred in the cemetery south of Elba, Nebraska.
