Atchison Daily Globe - February 4, 1951 - Mrs Marietta Jessip, 82, formerly of Muscotah, died last Monday in Sioux City, IA where she had made her home with a daughter, Mrs William Boland for the past four years. She was born April 12, 1868, and in 1884 was married to J.W. Jessip at Muscotah. Although prior to her death she was unable to walk without assistance she never complained and was always cheerful. Surviving are four sons: Arthur and Nelson of Sioux City and James and Perry of Atchison; two daughters: Mrs Eva Mansfield and Mrs Lillie Boland, both of Sioux City; a brother, James Wills of Mallard, IA; two sisters: Mrs John Pelly of New London, MN and Mrs Clyde Turner of Tacoma, WA; 33 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. James W Jessip and son Roger have returned home from Sioux City, Iowa where they attended the funeral Wednesday of Mr Jessip's mother, Mrs Maryetta Jessip. Mrs Jessip was born and lived for many years in Muscotah. She died Monday. Atchison Weekly Globe - December 15, 1927 - Word has been received here by relatives of the death of an Atchison pioneer and a former resident of Muscotah, John Wills. At the time of his death Mr Wills was living in Sioux Rapids, Iowa where he has made his home with his son, J.R. Wills for the last 25 years. He was 87 years of age and had suffered from poor health for several years. Mr Wills is survived by his daughters: Mrs Maryetta Jessip living in Westfield, IA, Mrs Anna Kelley of Bingham Lake, MN, and Mrs Hattie Turney of Ellenburg, WA. He is also survived by his only son, J.R. Wills of Sioux Rapids, IA.
