Read More	Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, CO, 12 Oct 2000 Masyl Lorraine Sheridan died Friday morning, October 6, 2000. She was born on February 7, 1930 to Permilla Mabel Heldenbrand (known as Millie) and Henry Schellenberg on their farm northwest of Holyoke. Masyl's first love was the Lord and Christianity. Her family, friends and neighbors were the center of that Christian love all of her 70 years of life. No matter how ill or how much pain she was in, she always thought of others and showed them just how much, with her big heart and caring love. Masyl was immersed at a Church of God camp meeting in a river at Broken Bow, NE at the age of 13. Baptism was very important to her. She married Charlie D. Sheridan (known as Chick) on July 6, 1947. God blessed this union with six daughters and 15 grandchildren. Masyl also enjoyed her 11 great-grandchildren, who were a big part in her life. Masyl lived on the ranch, 19 miles north of Wray with her husband Charlie for 53 years, enjoying the ranch and all its offerings while raising their six girls. She wasn't much on the cowboy side of life but tied right in with the ranching and calving. She always helped check heifers every two hours through the night. One fond memory was when she was riding a horse named Ceasar, which she seldom did. He left the east hill and ran away on a dead run with her. Ceasar did not stop until he came to an abrupt stop at the south fence of the bordering neighbor pasture. She accomplished the ride and hung on for dear life but did not enjoy it at all. She never rode again. However she did stay in the saddle with her husband for the rest of the ranch's daily activities. She also enjoyed milking the cows and separating the cream to make homemade cottage cheese and butter for the family and friends. Masyl was a giver in every way. She always gave to everyone. But when it came to receiving gifts she needed encouragement. She did not want anyone to waste money or buy gifts for her. Whenever any of her daughters needed help, she was there. With her illness, she was being limited from her outside activities and was told by her husband and girls to help Mary in the greenhouse. And that she did; the family couldn't keep her away. The day she was admitted to the hospital, she called and was wondering if it would be a good day to work in the greenhouse. It was always warm inside and she would work for hours in there with the plants. Masyl's days included daily Bible study and prayer and it ended with her written journal of the day's activities and events or concerns of happenings with Chick, the girls and their families. Masyl was an artist in the design of making and quilting handmade beautiful quilts. She made quilts for her girls, grandchildren, family and the neighbors' children, as well, for many years. They received a quilt for their wedding gift, and each first born child. Masyl's hobbies were numerous. Gardening was her biggest love and raising watermelons and cantaloupe for sale and gifts in the community, not to mention all the other vegetables she grew for sale and canning for family. Her life of caring, giving and loving lasted for 70 years. Masyl was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Millie Schellenberg; one infant sister, Naomi; 6-year-old sibling sister Dorothy; sister Glenda and husband Joe in 1955; daughter Masyl Charlene and mother-in-law Flora Sheridan together in 1971; and daughter Tracy Gallegos in 1998. Also preceding in death was her father-in-law Fred L. Sheridan; sister-in-law Marjorie (Sheridan) Herrin; brothers-in-law Oliver Sheridan and the recently deceased Fred Jean Sheridan, all of which adored Masyl. Also preceding was infant great-granddaughter Kalonnie Dawn Wiltfang. She leaves husband, Charlie D. Sheridan of Wray; brother Lyle Schellenberg and wife Cathy of Lake Stevens, WA; sister Lois Welton of McMinnville, OR; daughters Barbara, Joyce, Mary and Sue; and sons-in-law along with all their children and grandchildren. She will also be missed by all the rest of the families of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Masyl's final wish would be that everyone be more loving and closer to Jesus. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 10 at the United Methodist Church in Wray with Rev. Stephen Allen officiating. Burial was in Holyoke Memorial Park.
