In the year 1889 he came to Wyoming, Iowa. In 1899 he married Christina Albertsen of Wyoming and they were parents to four sons, Chris, Bernhardt, Meinhardt and Carsten. Read More	The Correctionville News, 15 November 1951, page 2: Matthias Lorenzen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Lorenzen, was born July 23, 1861, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In the year 1889 he came to Wyoming, Iowa. In 1899 he married Christina Albertsen of Wyoming and they were parents to four sons, Chris, Bernhardt, Meinhardt and Carsten. The couple started farming at Olin, Iowa, in 1892, living there nine years. In 1901 they came to Danbury, moving to a farm near Battle Creek the next year where they spent the next 26 years. Owing to poor health they moved to Battle Creek in 1926, returning to the farm in 1931 for a few years. In 1939 they moved to Cushing where he spent the remainder of his life. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on February 27, 1949. Mrs. Lorenzen preceded him on November 11th of that year. He continued to live alone until October 5th of this year when he entered a Sioux City hospital. His condition became worse on November 3rd and at 3 a.m. on November 5, 1951, with his sons beside him, he passed away at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 13 days. Besides his wife, two sisters and one brother preceded him. Survivors include his sons Chris and Carsten both of Battle Creek, Bernhardt of Holstein and Meinhardt of Arthur; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Emma Von Spreechken of Renville, Minnesota, and Johanna Clausen of Owatonna, Minnesota. Services were held at St. John Lutheran Church in Cushing on Thursday, November 8, 1951, with Rev. W.G. Pfeffer officiating. Burial was at Midway Cemetery.
