Iowa April 9, 1891 was the last survivor of the family of Mr. and Mrs Adam Crist; was born in Franklin Co. PA. Feb 16,1815. Iowa April 9, 1891 was the last survivor of the family of Mr. and Mrs Adam Crist; was born in Franklin Co. PA. Feb 16,1815. Was married to Henry Cook March 6, 1834, and in 1835 the young couple moved to Ohio in the hope of advancing their prospects in their search; for that comfort which all on earth hold dear --a home. In 1855 they again joined in the western tide of emigration and came to Iowa where they finally settled in Fayette county on the little farm which they were able to call "home". The husband and father was taken away by death August 4, 1883, and since then the devoted wife and mother has willingly looked forward to the time when her earthly form should be lain beside his in the little cemetery at Wadena, IA. The last sad ceremonies were held at Wadena April 11, 1891. The Rev. F. Glime of Brush Creek preaching and eloqent discourse. A family of children, grand children, great-grandchildren with a large circle of friends deeply mourn the loss of a loving mother, a kind friend and neighbor. Her children now living are six in number; D.A.Cook of Brush Creek, IA married: S.H.Cook of Andrew, IA. married; Mrs. R.C.McMurray of Andrew, IA married; A.C.Cook of Wadena, single; S.P.Cook of Adrian, N.Dakota single; Jay Cook of Iowa City, IA. married. And the following three children are dead: John R. Cook, Mrs Sarah Hummel, and Matilda Cook.
