Well them days they used walking plow an walking lister Well ever thing was done the hard way. My Mother never had a sewing machine or washing machine had to use the old wash board and you couldent buy any clothing ready made you dident go to town and buy bread baked Dad and Mallie both died in the old sod house. the frame house was build in 1905. our sod house had a board roof shingle it was 12 feet by 36 feet it was all one room with curtian off for the bed room. any way living in a sod house was no hard ship during pioneer days one neighbor had rag carpet on dirt floor they spread the floor with straw than put down the carpet going around the edges with little pieces of wood about the size of tooth picks to hold it in place...."
