Born March 9, 1919, near West Point, she was the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth Fritzjunker Moeller. On Oct. 23, 1945, she married Wilfred Kruse in West Point. "Tillie" Kruse, 89, of Houghton, died at 6:20 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2009, at Park Place Long Term Care Unit in Mount Pleasant. Born March 9, 1919, near West Point, she was the daughter of Theodore and Elizabeth Fritzjunker Moeller. On Oct. 23, 1945, she married Wilfred Kruse in West Point. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Kruse worked at Sheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison and as a caregiver for the Lerche family. During World War II, she worked in Chicago. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Houghton Quilters. She enjoyed making afghans and quilts for her grandchildren, playing cards with family and friends and fishing and visiting with friends and family. She was devoted to her faith and prayer. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Karen Anderson of West Burlington, Marie Ziegler of Danville and Elizabeth Fedler of Salem; one son, Kenny Kruse of West Point; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernie Moeller of West Point; one sister, Martha Giannini of Chicago; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and five sisters. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in West Point, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Rosary prayer will be at 3 and 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Kruse will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church in Houghton with the Revs. Gary Beckman and Apo T. Mpanda as celebrants. Burial will be in St. John's Church Cemetery, Houghton. A memorial has been established for St. John's Church Choir and the Parkinson's Foundation.
