Description	:	OBITUARY— Matilda Jane Burton, who had attained the age of 87 years October 4, died at her home in Moravia Thursday, October 6, at 6 p. m. She suddenly became ill Thursday morning and failed rapidly until her death. Prior to this time she had been in fairly good health. Matilda Jane Holloway was born on a farm two and one-half miles north of Centerville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Holloway. Matilda Jane Holloway was born on a farm two and one-half miles north of Centerville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Holloway. She was the last surviving member of her family in which there were five brothers and three sisters. On September 8, 1880, she united in marriage with Joshua J. Burton, •Who preceded her in death in Mav. 1917. The couple had lived together on a farm six miles south of Moravia for 38 years. Following Mr. Burton's death, she moved into Moravia where she was widely known and liked. She was a member of the Moravia Christian church and was active as long as her health permitted. She is survived by six children, Mrs. Edna Neff of Moravia, Harry and Harley of Centerville, Curtis of Moravia, Neal of Richland, and Otis of Ottumwa. There are 10 grandchildren, three of whom are in the service overseas, and seven great grandchildren.
