She died November 8, 1928, in her home in Nodaway, at the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 8 days. She grew to womanhood in Henry county, Iowa, where she married John Daily. This union was blest with eight children, three of whom are still living, Jesse and Frank Daily, and Mrs. Emma Wilson of Glendale, California. Mr. Daily preceded her in death many years ago. On August 12, 1908, she was united in marriage to William E. Benedict of Nodaway, and they have since resided here. At least half of her long and useful life was spent in Adams County, Iowa. She has been a faithful, earnest Christian, deeply interested in her home, her friends, and her community. as long as her health permitted, she was an active worker in the Woman's Relief Corps and her sorrowing husband is the only veteran of the civil war who is left in this vicinity to tell of that struggle. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Church, Rev. Ellis read the scripture lesson and offered prayer and the funeral sermon was preached by Rev. W. R. Ousler. The pall bearers were Arnold Meyers, Harry Agnew, Roy Egleston, Ward and Ernest Lawrence, and Lee Mitchell. The singers were L. W. Rider, Mrs. H. G. Everett, Mrs. Ben Read, and Martin Taylor, with Lois Watts at the piano.
