Mar. 17, 1817 in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, , Scotland and d. 1872 in CA. 3. John Easton, b. May 27, 1819 in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland and d. 1853 in UT. John marr. first, Agnes Ann Mitchell on Mar. 9, 1939 in Scotland. They had two daughters, Elizabeth (1840) and Barbara (1841). They joined the LDS (Mormon) Church in Scotland in the 1840's, and immigrated to America. Tragically, John's wife Agnes Ann and his two daughters died in the cholera epidemic of 1849 in St. Louis, Missouri. John married second, Margaret Fife in 1849, and they had a son, John Miller Easton (1850), and a daughter, Helen "Ellen" Easton (1853). They crossed the plains to Utah in 1851. John died in Utah in 1853. John led a wagon train to CA. 4. Robert Easton, b. Jul. 27, 1822 in Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland (or Glasgow, Scotland) and d. May 25, 1887 in Greenville, Beaver, UT. Robert married first, Margaret Lindsay, on Oct. 22, 1842 in Old Monkland, Lanark, Scotland (she died in 1849); second, Mary Miller, on Oct. 13, 1852, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, UT. and third, Agnes Miller, on Mar. 21, 1857 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, UT. 5. James Laird Easton, b. Jul. 3 (or 24), 1823 in Rose Hall (or Old Monkland), Lanarkshire, Scotland and d. 1880 in Oregon. On Jan. 7, 1844, James marr. first, Agnes Adam (1821-1894). James brought his wife, Agnes Adam, and one year old daughter, Margaret, to America in 1849. Supposedly, they traveled on the same ship with his sister-in-law, Margaret (Adam) Henderson, Margaret's husband, David Henderson and their children. The two families lived side-by-side in St. Louis, MO. where James and David worked as miners to raise the money to continue west to Salt Lake City, UT. Then the cholera epidemic swept through St. Louis in 1848, killing Agnes' sister, Isobella (Adam) Grant. Agnes, herself, almost died but was nursed back to health by her sister, Margaret. James & Agnes Easton had 12 children, 8 of whom died in infancy (mostly of cholera in St. Louis, MO.). In the 1850 census, James is listed as a miner. At the end of that year, James traveled to Salt Lake City, probably with his brothers and his mother. He must have become a practicing Mormon at that point, because it is shown that on Apr. 19, 1852, he married a second time, taking as his plural wife, Margaret (Agnes' sister), whose husband, David Henderson had also died (either from sunstroke or cholera) in St. Louis, MO. Margaret, a widow with children, would not have been allowed to travel with the wagon train to Salt Lake City as an unmarried woman. Margaret and James Easton had two children, one who died in infancy and John, who remained with his mother in San Bernardino and lived to adulthood while James and Agnes Easton went to Oregon to live. Margaret went back to the name, 'Henderson' and John went by 'Henderson' as well. Agnes is buried in Dufur, Wasco county, OR. 6. Barbara Easton, b. Matthew Stevenson Easton, b. 1834 and d. 1898. Matthew marr. Jeanette Rawlings and settled in San Bernardino, CA. They had 8 children, 2 of whom were daughters. 10. Elizabeth Easton, b.
