Description	:	News of the death of Mrs. Mattie L Lobdell, wife of Walter Lobdell which occurred Thursday at 1:50 p.m. came as a shock to the entire community. She died at St John's Hospital, Lowell, Mass. as a result of an operation. Mrs. Lobdell had been in poor health for some time although she had kept about until within a few days of her death. Read More	News of the death of Mrs. Mattie L Lobdell, wife of Walter Lobdell which occurred Thursday at 1:50 p.m. came as a shock to the entire community. She died at St John's Hospital, Lowell, Mass. as a result of an operation. Mrs. Lobdell had been in poor health for some time although she had kept about until within a few days of her death. Deceased was the daughter of Robert F. and Helen Hooper and was 45 years, 3 months and 14 days of age. She was born in Westport, Essex County, New York. For the past twelve years she had made Ashland her home. Mrs. Lobdell was a woman who won respect and love from all who knew her. She was a kind neighbor, a loving wife and mother and was a member of the Ashland Relief Corps. She leaves to mourn their loss a husband, one son, three daughters, a father, mother, two sisters and six brothers beside a host of friends. The funeral will be held at her late home at two p.m., Saturday with interment at Green Grove Cemetery. >The Ashland Citizen, August 25, 1906, p5. The funeral of Mrs. W.J. Lobdell who died so suddenly in the hospital at Lowell, Mass. while there for medical treatment was held at the Lobdell home on Winter Street last Saturday afternoon. The members of the Woman's Relief Corps, of which organization Mrs. Lobdell was a member attended the funeral in a body. Rev. F.D. George of Franklin officiated as clergyman assisted by Reverend Mr. Avery. The funeral was largely attended and the magnificent display of flowers testified in a small way to the high esteem in which Mrs Lobdell was held by her many friends. Interment was in Green Grove Cemetery. The bearers were Henry Morse, Ansel Jewell, Henry Boynton and John Gunn. Mrs Lobdell is survived by a husband, Walter J. Lobdell, three daughters, Mrs Grace Moore, Mrs Bertha Smith and Mrs. Mabelle Avery, one son, Robert, also by a father and mother, two sisters and six brothers. >The Ashland Citizen, September 1, 1906, p2.
