Graveside services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City. The Rev. Heidi Revelo officiated. Mrs. Chipps was born July 10, 1904, at Pleasanton to Walter and Bertha (Krotz) Hughes. She was raised in Pleasanton and attended school there. She married Paul Elias Chipps in November 1920 at Pleasanton. In their early marriage, the couple lived on a farm south of Litchfield. They later moved into Litchfield, where they owened an International Harvester store. In 1950, they moved to Loup City, when Mr. Chipps was elected Sherman County treasurer. He died Oct. 26, 1962. She continued to live in her home until July 1988, when she entered Rose Lane Home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was recently honored as a 75-year member. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Litchfield and Loup City and had served as past worthy matron. She enjoyed flowers, sewing, arts and cooking. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Vivian Chipps of Loup City; two granddaughters, Tamra Jonak of Loup City and Charlene Kampfe of Tucson, Ariz.; and two great grandchildren, Lindsey and Christopher Jonak of Loup City. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Royce Chipps; two brothers, Ralph and Glen Hughes; and five sisters, Myrtle Ahrens, Grace Herrera, Mabel Logrhy, Hazel Douglas and Alma Rasmussen.
