Dwight Kemling of the Methodist Church in charge. Mrs. Reuben Cook accompanied the soloist Reuben Cook. Masonic graveside services were held at Evergreen Cemetery where interment was made. Pallbearers were Milo Daily, Jens Jensen, Byrel Lang, Norman Stephens, Fred Sherman and Elden Bass. Paul Elias was born March 10, 1901 at Litchfield to Frank J. and Emma Chipps and spent his early youth in that community. He was united in marriage to Mattie Hughes on Jan. 31, 1921 and to them was born one son, Royce J. Mr. Chipps was employed in the bank at Pleasanton for a time and then was engaged in farming for 22 years. From the farm he moved to Litchfield where he was in business until 1950. While in Litchfield he served as mayor and a member of the school board. He was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge and a past Patron of the Eastern Star Chapter and was active in community service. In 1950 he moved with his family to Loup City and continued to be interested in affairs of the city and took an active part in many of its activities. He had been president of the Loup City Chamber of Commerce, for the past several years served on the Chamber's road committee and at the time of his death was serving on the newly created Housing Authority. In 1952 he was elected to serve the county as County Treasurer and remained in that office, still serving at the time of his death. He was a member of the Methodist Church and participated in the choir. Survivors are his wife, Mattie; his son and daughter-in-law, Royce and Vivian; his mother, Mrs. Emma Chipps and two grandchildren, Charlene and Tamara. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank J. Chipps.
