Description	:	Maude Rieke, daughter of Henry and Jessie Childs, was born June 1, 1897, in Republic County, Kansas, and departed this life October 17, 1984, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Republic County Hospital. She was 87 years of age. She was baptized in the Christian Church at Chester. She was a student in the rural and Chester, Nebraska, School Systems, graduating from Chester High School in 1917. Read More	Maude Rieke, daughter of Henry and Jessie Childs, was born June 1, 1897, in Republic County, Kansas, and departed this life October 17, 1984, at the Long Term Care Unit of the Republic County Hospital. She was 87 years of age. She was baptized in the Christian Church at Chester. She was a student in the rural and Chester, Nebraska, School Systems, graduating from Chester High School in 1917. She was a school teacher before her marriage. She was united in marriage to George Alfred Rieke on November 29, 1918, and to this union five children were born. The family was at home on the farm north of Belleville known as the Childs Homestead. She was a faithful attender at the small country church at Liberty Center. After her retirement, Maude moved to Belleville where she was a member of the Republic County Historical Society and attended the First United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, George, an infant son, and one sister, Elizabeth Rieke. Survivors include daughters Esther Moxham and husband, Dale, of Belleville; Eleanor Navis and husband, William I., of Belleville; Marjorie Dugger and husband, Victor, of Salina; sons, Duane Rieke and wife, Marilyn, of Belleville and Dwight Rieke and wife, Gail of Sante Fe, New Mexico; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. One sister, Gertrude Kampfe of Omaha, Ne.; two brothers-in-law, Harry Rieke of Auburn, Ne., and Ervin Rieke of Chester, Ne.; and one sister-in-law, Grace Rieke. Services were held at the First United Methodist Church, Belleville, on October 19, 1984, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. James W. Graves officiating. Organist was Mrs. Eugene Waring. Casket bearers were Robert Moxham, William L. Navis, Joel Navis, Roland Dugger, Dan Dugger, Lynn Moxham, John Navis, George Dugger, Tom Dugger and Dan Rieke. Burial was at the Chester Cemetery, Chester, Nebraska.
