Description	:	George Alfred Rieke was born October 1, 1895, the third child of John and Ida Rieke. The family lived near Chester, and George received his elementary education in the old Duey school and the Chester public school. After some years of high school he left to help with farm work, as was common in that time. He loved to play ball and has always been interested in sports. Read More	George Alfred Rieke was born October 1, 1895, the third child of John and Ida Rieke. The family lived near Chester, and George received his elementary education in the old Duey school and the Chester public school. After some years of high school he left to help with farm work, as was common in that time. He loved to play ball and has always been interested in sports. On Thanksgiving day, 1917, he was united in marriage to Miss Maude Childs. Soon after they established their home, they moved to her parents' home place where they have lived ever since. To the union of this marriage were born six children: Keith, who died in birth, Esther, Eleanor, Marjorie, Duane and Dwight. When George was about 13 years old, he was baptized and joined the Methodist church (sic) in Chester. After this time his interest in religion remained steady. He had always had a strong consciousness of honesty, being scrupulously fair in all things. He earnestly taught his children to be law-abiding in every way. In the last few months he talked about the beauties of heaven, and recently said, "I always have believed in Christ." He passed away on the morning of January 28th, 1958, at the age of 62 years, 3 months, and 28 days. He was preceded in death by his son, Kieth (sic), his parents, his sister, Mrs. John Hess and his brother, Ralph. He is survived by his wife, Maude; three daughters, Mrs. Dale Moxham of Lincoln, Mrs. William Navis of Chester, and Mrs. Victor Dugger of Mankato, Kansas; two sons, Duane of Beatrice and Dwight, who is still at home; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Utterback of Arlington, and Mrs. Ralph Barnes of Chester; one brother, Ervin of Chester; eleven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 30, at the Chester Christian Church, conducted by Rev. Duane Hutchinson. Music was furnished by a quartet, Frank Larkins, Max Larkins, Neal Eickman and Ed Richards, accompanied by Mrs. Melvin Crouse at the organ. The casketbearers were Kenneth Rieke, Robert Barnes, Dale Barnes, Dave Newell, Warren Wilke and Dolan Frye. Interment was in the Chester cemetery (sic).
