The Kansas Optimist Jamestown, Kansas Thursday, February 17, 1921 page 1 Obituary - Mrs. Clarence Chaney Maude Evelyn Pease was born near Aurora, Kansas, September 1, 1893, and died February 13, 1921 at the Beloit Hospital, at the age of 27 years, 5 months and 13 days. She was married to Clarence Chaney February 14, 1912. One child born to this union died in infancy. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Chaney, her daughter, Evelyn, her father, C.W. Pease, one brother, Newell Pease, of Denver, Colorado and two sisters, Mrs. Nina Kady of Jamestowns and Mrs. Charley Miller, of Kirks, Colorado. She united with the M.E. church March 3, 1907 at the age of 14 years. Mrs. Chaney lived a quiet, consistent Christian life. She was a member of the various organizations of the church here. She assumed her duties willingly and always performed them well. Such characters are all too rare and when gone are sadly missed. "Not lost, blest thought but gone before, Where we shal go To part no more." Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. T.H. Parrott, assisted by Rev. Chandler. Interment was made in the Jamestown cemetery. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield)
