Mitchell died at her ranch home near Bainville, Mont., Tuesday morning Dec. 29. Having been ill for several months her death was not unexpected, but nevertheless it was a shock to those who knew and loved her best. Mrs. Mitchell, who was formerly Miss Maude Martin, who spent several years as a teacher at Culbertson, and was also one of Glasgow's first and most proficient primary teachers. Many of her pupils who have now grown to young womanhood and manhood, will always remember the hours spend with her in the schoolroom and feel that they received a lasting benefit from association with her. As teacher, wife and mother, she met the problems of her life with a sweet dignity and quiet courage that was an example to those around her. Mrs. Mitchell came to Montana from Missouri more than 20 years ago and through many trying circumstances stood firmly and unflinching for the highest and nobles principles of life thus forming a character that will be a lasting monument to her memory. Besides Mrs. Mitchell's immediate family, she leaves a host of friends who, while they mourn, feel glad they had the privilege of being her friend. The funeral services were held from the Culbertson residence Thursday at 1 o'clock p.m., and the remains laid to rest beside her husband who passed to the Great Beyond two years ago.
