Maurice was born April 8, 1950 on the Ziegler farm north of Council Grove, of the late Lester and Flossie Ziegler. Maurice worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was employed at Neosho Construction as well as Buyer Construction. Maurice had many hobbies and interests which included hunting, fishing, bird watching, gardening, and riding motorcycles. He was an excellent chess player and enjoyed card games as well as darts. Maurice enjoyed life and captured the beauty of nature through his love of photography. He had many friends and possessed a generous spirit. His quick wit and sense of humor is what he will always be remembered for. Maurice "Ziggy" was fun, and laughter always followed him. Maurice is survived by five children and their families. Charity Gustke and husband Bryan of Baldwinsville, New York; Georgina Stanton and husband Michael of Baldwinsville, New York; Christina Daime of Portland, Oregon; Jason Ziegler and wife Ricci of Council Grove, KS; Jennifer Ziegler-Cranford of Emporia, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister Jennie Baker of Golf, KS; a brother, Samuel Ziegler of Fort Lauderdale, FL; many nieces and nephews and girlfriend and faithful companion, Lorraine Hackler.
