He used to ring a bell (or siran) at noon and then at 6:00 pm for the town of Erling. The 6:00 bell was to announce that it was time for the Dunlapers to leave town. The farm was west of Dunlap and very small. Her husband worked at a packing plant. One daughter runs the Cakes and Bakes in Dunlap. Loraine had quite a few children. Her daughter Susan was a pen pail of Lynn Sullivan Mangan. She was a little older than Lynn. Her mother made pies for the whole town of Dunlap, for sale. Patsey Sullvan was the May Queen, Class of 1946. 5. Thomas Joseph (married Sally Huebner) 6. Kathleen (Mrs. John Roane). Kathleen lives in Neola, Iowa. Tom is in Carol, Iowa and Partick was killed in a car wreck in the 1970 - drunk and ran into a tree w/o seat belts. Kathleen lives on a farm in Neola and her husband is a very successful farmer. They had children but it is unknown just how many they had. They farmed massive acreage. Mary Alice Baldwin's youngest son Larry has worked for them for many years since high school. Maurice went to the doctor and was told that if he didn't stop his current life style and cought a cold or the fleu he would die. He didn't stop and was dead within two weeks. Maurice's father left the farm to Maurice and Maurice's sister Bernadette because they had stayed on the farm and taken care of it. Their brother Leonard never complained about not getting anything. Maurice lived in a house 100 yards from his father who had built the house for him. He and his wife Alice died in 1958 while Patrick's son John died in 1945 or 1946. Maurice's fasther Patrick enjoyed farming and had 10 horses he used in farming. In the last 10 years (1936 purchase) he had a Minneapolis Moline tractor that Maurice operated. Patrick was very easy going and a very nice man. He took in a retarted boy from a distant cousin of his and the boy had a sister. "This guy dumped them off at Pat and Mary Ann's house and he never came back, so they just raised them." The retarted boy lived at Glenwood Institute for the mentally insane in Glenwood Iowa. The house on the farm was in very bad shape and probably existed when Patrick bought the farm. Patrick built the very large barns on the farm and the largest barn had large corn cribs with very wide isles between them so that Patrick could store his equipment in the isles during the winter. He raised corn, oats and winter wheat, raised beef cattle and had a few milk cows. Patrick died before his wife and she moved to Remsen Street in Dunlap. His farm was 320 tillible acres - rich land with Mill Creek running through it. One of the best farms in Dunlap.
