Maurtiz Bengtson, son August Bengtson and wife was born June 17, 1908, in Fleunnge Parish in Skane, Sweden. In his parish he received his public school training and was later confirmed in that same parish, In May 1928 he landed in America coming to this community immediately, where he made his home with relatives for a year. In his parish he received his public school training and was later confirmed in that same parish, In May 1928 he landed in America coming to this community immediately, where he made his home with relatives for a year. Since that time he has worked in this community. In January 1932 he was received into membership in the Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church west of Genoa. By his quiet and reserved way he won his way into the hearts of many. He was looked up to as one who was faithful and conscientious in whatever he undertook to do. Left to mourn his early departure from this life he has a father in Sweden, his mother having preceded him to the next life. Besides his father in Sweden, he leaves two brothers, Albert and Walfred, sister, Selma and aunt Amanda Magnessen. In this country he leaves his brother, Carl, an aunt Miss Bertha Berggren of Chicago; Mrs. Ed Frosberg and family of Concord, Nebr.; Mr. R. P. Rasmussen and family, Mrs. Gus Berggren and family west of Genoa; Charley Berggren and family of Genoa; and Martin Berggren and family north of St. Edward. He died at the home of his uncle, R. P. Rasmussen, Wednesday evening Sept. 23. He reached the age of 27 years 3 months and 10 days. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Anderson and Rev. Gustafson. The body was laid to rest in the Valley View Cemetery
