Max's older brother Morris Dolan was in the US Navy at the time of the accident. Max is buried beside his grandfather Darby Dolan at the Fairveiw Cemetery. Max was a typical Tipton County farm boy who was involved in the everyday life on the farm including feeding livestock and taking part in 4H activities including showing of hogs at the Tipton county 4H fair. His great uncle Morris Delbert (Bill) Stillabower was deeply saddened by the loss of his nephew Chuck's family but still helped the Morris Dolan family with the arrangements for placing the departed family members into their final resting places. July 8th, 1955 Tipton Tribune Mother Becomes Third to Succumb Mrs. Mildred Dolan became the third member of her family to succumb to injuries received in a two-car crash Thursday afternoon when she died at Tipton Memorial hospital at 1:10 p.m. A 13-year-old Tipton junior high school pupil and his father were fatally injured in a two-car crash shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday at the Daily Shook intersection, north of road 28 and one mile east of road 19. The mother Mildred Dolan, was listed as critical today in Tipton Memorial hospital. The boy, Max Eugene Dolan, of route 2, died shortly after the crash of a "head trama". The father, Charles E. (Chuck) Dolan, 46, died in this hospital this morning of a crushed chest and internal injuries. Tipton County Deputy Sheriff Verl Grimme and State Trooper Robert Zell who investigated, said that the crash apparently occurred as the Dolan car was heading south and a car driven by James Baker, route 2, was headed west, on county roads. Both cars were hurtled by the Impact into a soybean field on the Shook farm to the southwest of the intersection. Mrs. Dolan and the boy apparently were thrown from the car as it hit the ditch, and they were found laying together by the rescuers. Dolan was trapped in the overturned automobile. Baker, alone in his car, was able to walk approximately a quarter mile to the Wayne Kennett residence where Mrs. Kennett telephoned for medical assistance the for the police. The Dolan farm, just south of where the accident occurred, was the scene less than an hour before of the wind up of a daylong tour by the members of the East Side Cicero 4-H Boys club. Max was a member of the club, and the boys who had made the tour stopped there for refreshments before disbanding. Services for Max and his father will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Young's Funeral Home with Reverend James Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home any time Saturday and until the hour of services. Services for Mrs. Dolan will be the same time. The Dolan boy was born in Tipton June 17th, 1942, the son of Charles and Mildred (Erp) Dolan. He had completed the eighth grade in the Tipton Junior High School and was active in 4-H club work. Surviving is a brother Morris who entered the Navy less than a month ago June 16th, and had been stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training station. Also surviving are his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Erp, of Sheridan, and a grandfather, Darby Dolan, of Tipton; and two aunts Mrs. Elizabeth Thayer, of Muncie, and Mrs. Luther Powell of route one Tipton. The Father, Charles E (Chuck) Dolan, was born in Tipton May 4th, 1909, the son of Darby and Mella (Stillabower) Dolan. He was a member of the Masonic and Elks lodges of Tipton, and in addition to farming was employed at a factory in Elwood. Survivors include Darby Dolan, Sister Mrs. Elizabeth Thayer of Muncie, an aunt, Mrs. Alta Cardwell of Yorktown, and an uncle, Morris Stillabower of Tipton.
