He was born November 28, 1916 at Pittsburg, the son of Harry and Stella (Broughton) Smith. He was a lifetime area resident. On May 21, 1937, he was united in marriage to Ella M. Reece at Girard, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 25, 1995. He worked for VanTassel Trucking for twenty-two years as a mechanic, retiring on January 1, 1982. He was born November 28, 1916 at Pittsburg, the son of Harry and Stella (Broughton) Smith. He was a lifetime area resident. On May 21, 1937, he was united in marriage to Ella M. Reece at Girard, Kansas. She preceded him in death on March 25, 1995. He worked for VanTassel Trucking for twenty-two years as a mechanic, retiring on January 1, 1982. Survivors include a son, Max William Smith, Jr. of Jarrell, TX; two daughters, Sharon I. Kunard of Topeka, KS and Dorothy Mills of The Villages, FL; a sister, Doris Klinock of Lenexa, KS; and 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
