Sarley, 62, Joplin, died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday at Mount Carmel Medical Center, Pittsburg, Kan., after an illness of several months. Mrs. Sarley was born Nov. 8, 1926, at Pittsburg. She had lived in Joplin since 1959, moving from Pittsburg. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Russell Belden Electric Co., Joplin, for six years, and the Farmers Chemical Co., Joplin, for 8 1/2 years. She retired earlier this year. She was a graduate of Pttsburg High School and attended Missouri Southern State College, Joplin, for two years. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, Joplin, serving as past president. She also was a member of First Christian Church, Pittsburg, and the Joplin Women's Bowling Association. Survivors include a son, Richard J. Grassi, Topeka, Kan.; a daughter, Nancy L. Achey, Pittsburg; two brothers, Kenneth Fanska, Pittsburg, and Emiel Fanska, DeQueen, Ark.; two sisters, Luella Fish and Lois Willis, both of Pittsburg; and four grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg. Wayne Black will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the home of Lois Willis, 408 S. Joplin St., Pittsburg. Contributions may be made to the Maxine E. Sarley Scholarship Fund established by the Ozark Gateway Chapter of ABWA or the American Cancer Society, both in care of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg.
