Opdahl The funeral for Maxine Leone "Macky" Opdahl, 63, of Litchville was Saturday afternoon in the First Lutheran Church of Litchville with Pastor Lee Herberg officiating. She died Wednesday, November 1, 1989. Maxine Leone McGregor was born October 22, 1926 in Marion, the daughter of Bessie (Nafus) and George McGregor. She grew up in Litchville and graduated from Litchville High School. She worked for the telephone company before her marriage to Lyle Opdahl November 23, 1950 at First Lutheran Church in Litchville. They had a family of three sons: Jeff, Jay and Kevin. "Macky" began her employment at The Litchville Bulletin the spring of 1970 where she worked as proof-reader-bookkeeper until the fall of 1984. She was a member of the First Lutheran congregation, the ELCW and the Litchville Homemakers Club. Lyle died October 10, 1988. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and a brother, Robert. She is survived by their family: Jeff, Pam and Katie Opdahl of Waconia, MN; Jay, Tammie, Travis, Brent and Kristen Opdahl of Menoken, ND; and Kevin Opdahl of Bismarck; five brothers: Lloyd of Aberdeen, SD, John of Las Vegas, NV, Harlan of Sandy, UT, Merwin and Rex of Litchville; three sisters: Marjorie (Mrs. Joe) Kopp of Rhinelander, WI, Irma (Mrs. Clarence) Gunn of Las Vegas, NV and Joyce (Mrs. Wallace) Jensen of Arvada, CO. Dennis and Shelly Nelson sang "In the Garden." The congregation sang "Amazing Grace," "The Strife is Over, the Battle Done," and "Children of the Heavenly Father." Mrs. Vernon Krenz was at the organ. Pallbearers were Norman Colebank, Vernon Hartman, Alfred Opdahl, Reynold Peterson, Theron Strinden and Kenneth Smith. The Peterson Funeral Home of Enderlin was in charge of arrangements. Published in The Litchville Bulletin, November 8, 1989. In high school she was Valedictorian of her senior class, and an all-state basketball player.
