Description	:	Maxine L. Wallis, age 85, of Mondamin, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa. Maxine Lorraine was born May 6, 1928, at Oakland, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Nelly (Forristall) Guttau. Maxine moved from Oakland to Mondamin, Iowa, in 1941, and graduated with the class of 1945. Maxine worked at home providing help to her mother with the farm. She also worked briefly as a secretary. Wallis, age 85, of Mondamin, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa. Maxine Lorraine was born May 6, 1928, at Oakland, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Nelly (Forristall) Guttau. Maxine moved from Oakland to Mondamin, Iowa, in 1941, and graduated with the class of 1945. Maxine worked at home providing help to her mother with the farm. She also worked briefly as a secretary. Maxine and Gerald (Gib) Wallis were united in marriage on December 28, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Four children were born to this union, Marjorie, Margaret, Norman, and Glenda. Gerald preceded her in death on October 15, 1994. Maxine over the years was active in her children's activities and as a 4-H leader. She also was a Legion Auxillary Member. Maxine's greatest joy was her family, her home, her garden, and took great pride in these. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, Glen Guttau, Arthur Guttau, Archie Guttau, Darrell Guttau; and two sisters, Marjorie Hinkel and Margaret Lawrenson. Those left to treasure her memory include one son, Norman Wallis, of Mondamin, Iowa; three daughters, Marjorie (Barry) Erickson, of Castana, Iowa, Margaret (Kelly) Keele, of Alma, Ark., and Glenda (Dale) Kirby, of Cimarron, Kan.; four grandchildren, Ericka Erickson, Aaron Erickson, Dani Kirby, and Dustin Kirby; one brother, Donald (Betty) Guttau, of Mondamin, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Guttau, of Mondamin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
