She was born Nov. 26, 1922 on a farm near Barneston where she spent her childhood and was a graduate of Barneston High School. She lived in Lincoln for a short time, and married Harold M. Trauernicht on Sept. 27, 1944 at Tacoma, Washington. They farmed near Barneston for 10 years, and then near Odell for 28 years before moving to Blue Springs in 1983. Trauernicht, 87, of Wymore, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010 at her home. She was born Nov. 26, 1922 on a farm near Barneston where she spent her childhood and was a graduate of Barneston High School. She lived in Lincoln for a short time, and married Harold M. Trauernicht on Sept. 27, 1944 at Tacoma, Washington. They farmed near Barneston for 10 years, and then near Odell for 28 years before moving to Blue Springs in 1983. She was known for her cake decorating and was an active farm wife. She was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Wymore, was a member of the WELCA of the church, and was a former member of an extension club. Her hobbies included sewing, especially embroidery and quilting, and baking. Maxine is survived by two sons, Loren Trauernicht and his wife Maxine of Wymore; and Duane Trauernicht and his wife Inez of Beatrice; by three grandchildren, Cindy Miller and her husband Mike of Ashland; Scott Trauernicht and his wife Denielle of Wymore; and Joy Haake and her husband Jason of Hickman; by five great grandchildren, Lauren and Natalie Trauernicht; Ella Miller; Makayla and Lukas Haake; by a brother, George Riemann and his wife, Karolyn of Beatrice; by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Trauernicht of Lincoln; by brothers-in-law, Don Trauernicht and his wife Luetta of Wymore; William Trauernicht and his wife Marge; and H. Eldon Trauernicht and his wife Betty, all of Beatrice; and by nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, George T. and Edith F. (Brown) Riemann; by her husband, Harold, on Nov. 23, 1997; by a sister, Margaret Trauernicht and by a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and John Erdmann; by two brothers-in-law, Elmer Trauernicht and Clarence Trauernicht; and by a sister-in-law, Mable Trauernicht. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 11th & L Streets, Wymore. Ernest Waltke will officiate. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday in the fellowship hall of the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery, west of Barneston. The body will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, 505 North Ninth Street, Wymore, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday with her family receiving friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and at the church one hour preceding the service. Memorial to the church and the Wymore Rescue Unit with Roger and Barbara Henrichs in charge. Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, is in charge of arrangements.
