She taught in Districts No. 1 and No. 27 for five years and later... Read More	Maxine Marie Lovegrove Ackerman was born to Peter L. and Pearl P. Hill Lovegrove on December 23, 1924, at Fairmont. She passed away on July 29, 2005, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, seven months and six days. She was one of three children in the family. Maxine lived her whole life in Fillmore County. She attended Fairmont High School and graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln with a teaching degree. She taught in Districts No. 1 and No. 27 for five years and later worked as a teachers aid in the Farimont Public Schools for 19 years. She also worked for Don Beavers for many years in his grocery/dime store. Maxine was married to Melvin T. Ackerman of Grafton, Nebraska on August 12, 1945, and to them one son, Melvin E. (Gene) Ackerman was born. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Crocheting and baking cakes for all occasions were activities that she took pleasure in. She was a member of the UMW, Goldenrod Kensington and was a former 4-H leader for a number of years. Maxine had been serving on the Fairmont Housing Board and also active in the Happy Hour Extension Club and the Women's Club. In years past, she really enjoyed bowling for many years in Geneva, as well as in the York Leagues. She will long be remembered for her warm smile, hugging with open arms and her love for children of all ages. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Pearl Lovegrove, and her son, Gene, all of Fairmont. She is survived by her husband, Melvin and daughter-i-law, Alana Ackerman, all of Fairmont; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Irma Lovegrove of Cottonwood, Ariz.; sister Eileen Row of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren Heather Schilke and husband Mark of Imperial; Jason Ackerman and wife Tanya of Omaha and Korey Ackerman of Seward; great-grandchildren, Joshua Brown, Jaiden and Ty Schilke, Cael and Berke Ackerman. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 1, from the Fairmont Community Church with Rev. Ra Drake officiating. The Chancel Choir sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "He Will Carry You Through;" Chelsey Rehm sang "He Leadeth Me" and Juanita Rice sang "Rock of Ages." Casket bearers were grandsons, Jason and Korey Ackerman, Mark Schilke; nephew, Larry Ackerman; and family friends, Dick Arbuck and Dick Frazier. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
