Description	:	MAXINE (STITT) BEVER Maxine Bever, 85, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Thursday, Novenber 11, 2010. She was born on August 12, 1925 in Pawnee County, Nebraska to Melvin and Mabel (McLaughlin) Stitt. She attended school in Barneston, Nebraska and graduated from High School in 1943. She attended Beauty School and operated a Beauty Shop in Pawnee City for several years. She moved to Lincoln and worked for the gas company, demonstrating how to cook with the new gas ranges, It was there she learned the peanut brittle, fudge and sugar cookie recipes that became family traditions for years to come. On... Read More	MAXINE (STITT) BEVER Maxine Bever, 85, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on Thursday, Novenber 11, 2010. She was born on August 12, 1925 in Pawnee County, Nebraska to Melvin and Mabel (McLaughlin) Stitt. She attended school in Barneston, Nebraska and graduated from High School in 1943. She attended Beauty School and operated a Beauty Shop in Pawnee City for several years. She moved to Lincoln and worked for the gas company, demonstrating how to cook with the new gas ranges, It was there she learned the peanut brittle, fudge and sugar cookie recipes that became family traditions for years to come. On July 6, 1955, Maxine married Don Bever. They started their life together in Lincoln, but soon moved to Ames, Iowa where their two children Ann and Alan were born. They moved from there to Minneapolis, Minn., where they lived for 20 years before relocating to Princeton, Illinois. They retired to Phoenix in 1991 and enjoyed many years there with friends from all of these places, before moving back to the midwest to be closer to family. Maxine's first piority was always her family. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved golf, read, and was an incredible seamstress. She was a life time member of the Eastern Star. Her two grandchildren, Alexandra and John were a great joy to her life. She is survived by her husband Don, daughter Ann, son Alan and his wife Lisa and their children Alexandra and John, sister Joann and husband Art Collison and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Lewiston Cemetery, Lewiston, Nebraska. Memorials in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimers Association. (Pawnee Republican, Nov. 18, 2010 pg.5)
