Description	:	Maxine Morrison, 92, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Wakonda, South Dakota. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, September 19, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Wakonda, with Father Scott Traynor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday, September 18 at St. Patrick's Church followed by a 7 pm rosary and prayer service. Read More	Maxine Morrison, 92, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Wakonda, South Dakota. Maxine was born March 31, 1917 to Clyde and Mae (Withers) Babb. She grew up and received her education in Wakonda, graduating in 1935. After high school Maxine attended National College of Business in Sioux City, Iowa. She worked in the Secretary of State's office in Pierre and the state ASC office in Huron. On November 29, 1939 she married John Morrison at St Patrick's Catholic Church. They lived and farmed near Wakonda and raised four children. They were married 45 years when John died in 1984. After sending her last child to college, she enrolled herself. She then worked as the law library secretary at McKusick Law Library at the University of South Dakota until her retirement in 1981. Maxine lived in Yankton from 1991 until 2003 when she moved to Heritage Manor. In addition to caring for her family, Maxine enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and visiting family and friends. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters Rita (Larry) Benfer, Sun Lakes, Arizona; and, Marcia Morrison, Wakonda; her son James (Susan), Wakonda; 3 grandchildren, Kelli and Patrick Morrison and Rich Howard; and her niece Gloria (Babb) Becker, Yankton. She is also preceded in death by her brother Keith Babb; infant brother Ronald; and her son, Richard (1988). Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery or St. Patrick's McMahon Center addition.
