P. Honnold and H. L. Wickersham, who were called to the Platte. As was mentioned Saturday, Mr. Hendershoot and Mr. Wickersham were at Chappell looking over the country and if possible to get some work. They were on their return and about three miles south of North Platte the automobile in which they were riding turned turtle into a ditch. Mr. Wickersham was caught at the neck by the running board and was strangled. It was about 1:15 in the morning when the accident occurred and with no help in reach, it was impossible for Mr. Hendershoot to give immediate relief. Mr. Wickersham was able to talk for about fifteen minutes and complained of pain at his neck and ased to get the car off. The situation must certainly have been heart rending to Mr. Hendereshoot to see his friend pinned under the car and unable to relieve him. Mr. Hendershoot received a sprained limb and bruises. A broken down culvert is reported to be responsible for the accident. This had been leveled up but had become rotten. A few days ago an engine ran over this crossing and broke it down. The hole in the road on this account was so deep that when the front wheels ran into it, at the rate of fifteen miles per hour, the car was sent down a five-foot embankment and overturned. Max Wickersham is the son of H. L. Wickersham and resides in Cameron township. He was 23 years of age and besides his wife and other relatives, leaves two small children, one only two weeks old, to suffer his untimely loss. The funeral will bake place from the home in Cameron at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
