Description	:	May E. Newman, 83, of Anthon died Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at her daughter's home in Anthon following a lengthy illness. Services were held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Terry Roder officiating. Burial was in Mount St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under direction of Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon. May Elizabeth Newman was born January 28, 1920, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Andrew and Helena (Kueny) Reinbold. She grew up in the Mapleton, Anthon and Kingsley, Iowa areas. She attended country grade school and Catholic high school in Anthon. On February 17, 1946, she was united in marriage to Loyd Joseph Newman at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon. To this union five children were born. The couple farmed and trucked in the Anthon area. Loyd died November 21, 1996. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Joseph Altar Society. She had been a member of Catholic Daughters of America since June 1959. She loved to cook and bake and was very much the caretaker of the people in her life. Those survivors left to cherish their memories of her include a son and his wife, Larry and Martha Newman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four daughters, Mary Cogley of Bakersfield, California, Julie and her husband, Bob Kerns, of Anthon, Annette and her husband, Chuck Cloud, of Oto, Iowa, and Delora and her husband, Mike Fath, of Des Moines; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Newman of Correctionville, Iowa, and Ann Reinbold of Sioux City; along with other relatives, neighbors and good friends. Along with her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Allissa; a son-in-law, Don Cogley; two sisters, Florence Smith and Anne Beaubien; and a brother, Carl Reinbold.
