Description	:	Melda K. Oliver, 91 of Gordonsville died Sunday February 14, 2021 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born January 30, 1930 in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late David Wiley Atkins and Sadie Truslow Atkins. She was the wife of the late Garland Oliver. Mrs. Oliver, otherwise known as Nana Bup, lived a life of love in action, compassion and service to others and her Savior. She impacted the lives of everyone who knew her. Born January 30, 1930 in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late David Wiley Atkins and Sadie Truslow Atkins. She was the wife of the late Garland Oliver. Mrs. Oliver, otherwise known as Nana Bup, lived a life of love in action, compassion and service to others and her Savior. She impacted the lives of everyone who knew her. Her life revolved around her family and church. Mrs. Oliver was a school bus driver for Orange County Public Schools for over fifty years. She loved every student as if they were her own. Mrs. Oliver was a charter member of the Gordonsville Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a licensed mission worker in that denomination. She taught Sunday School for many years and was a leader in multiple ministries in her church and community. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Hill and husband Dale, Iris Wright and husband Tommy, one son, Jerry Oliver and wife Edith all of Gordonsville, four grandchildren, Todd Oliver, Bridgette Williams, Brent Wright, Brandi Shumake, eleven, great-grandchildren, Christian Oliver, Austin Oliver, Cameron Wright, Alexis Williams, Courtney Wright, Keenan Williams, Alana Shumake, Mason Wright, Adlee Shumake, Aspen Shumake, Grayson Wright, two great great-grandchildren, Lorelei Welch, Lincoln Oliver and a host of other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Luther Mullins, John, Herbert and Everette Atkins and her sister, Willie Wood. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday February 16, 2021 at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville. There will be a private funeral service held on Wednesday February 17, 2021 with Brenda Hutchinson and Christian Oliver officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Gordonsville.
