He had been in failing health for the past year. He was born June 30, 1914, at Cave Springs, Ark., to William Espy and Marian Elizabeth Allison Butler. He moved to Pittsburg as a small boy and was a 1934 graduate of Pittsburg High School. He married Ruth L. Haslam on Dec. 26, 1937. She survives of the home. He was born June 30, 1914, at Cave Springs, Ark., to William Espy and Marian Elizabeth Allison Butler. He moved to Pittsburg as a small boy and was a 1934 graduate of Pittsburg High School. He married Ruth L. Haslam on Dec. 26, 1937. She survives of the home. Mr. Butler worked as a brakeman and conductor for the Kansas City Southern Railroad for 34 years, retiring in July of 1976. He was a former member of the Assembly of God Church, where he taught the Homebuilder's Class, served as a deacon and was song leader. He was a member and elder of the Cornerstone Family Church. He also was a member of the Christian Business Men's Fellowship, serving as chairman in 1990. He was a member of the Full Gospel Men's Fellowship for many years and served as the president of the Pittsburg chapter for five years. Additional survivors include three sons, M. Daniel Butler of Naperville, Ill., Edward A. Butler of Stone Mountain, Ga., and John C. Butler of Alpharetta, Ga.; a daughter, Joyce E. Wahlgren of Wilmette, Ill.; three brothers, Rev. Wesley Butler of Wichita, Herbert Butler of Macomb, Ill., and Cecil Ray Butler of Platte City, Mo.; a sister, Lois Duncan of North Kansas City, Mo.;11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Buford Butler, and a sister, DeEtta Butler. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Brenner Mortuary Chapel with the Revs. Wesley Butler and Tommy Hutchins officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the Brenner Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E.
