Cummings, was born April 1, 1872, died October 2, 1891, aged 19 years. She united with the Pisgah M. E. Church six years ago, under the pastor age of C. J. Wells, and lived an earnest Christian till her death. A week had not elapsed from the death of the husband and father till the sorrowing family were again called upon to part with another of their loved ones. Only a week before as they passed through her room that she might see for the last time the face of her earthly father, she was heard to remark, "Pa is gone, but only a few short days and I'll be with him," and so it proved. But while she is missed and mourned for in the school room, social and family circles and when we go to the church where she seldom missed worship and find her not we know that our loss is but her eternal gain. The funeral was held at the Pisgah M. E. Church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Curless, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetry at that place. The sorrowing and still afflicted family have the sympathy of the entire community in this their double bereavement. No more in the school room we'll see thee, From the home thou art absent aa well ; Everywhere there's a vacancy near us, Yet in our hearts thou ever wilt dwell. "The maid is not dead, only sleeping," That blessed assurance is ours : Though the cold earth below has received her In Heaven she blossoms like flowers, Yet again, O loved one ! we'll meet thee In the heavenly portals above When the double heart wound He afflicted Will be healed by his wondrous love.
