This was a sudden and unexpected death, and a good and useful woman in all the best relations of life has left vacant the place she filled so well. Read More	Married Isreal McClain 23 March 1869 in Allen county, Ohio Tipton Advertiser 7 May 1885 page 2 McLain- At her residence, south west of Tipton, on Wednesday, April 29th, Mrs. Melissa McLain, wife of Isreal McLain, aged thirty-four years, five months and nine days. This was a sudden and unexpected death, and a good and useful woman in all the best relations of life has left vacant the place she filled so well. She had been married since March 23d, 1869, and six children are bereaved as well as the father and husband. Deceased was a member of Bethel M.E. Church, and though conscious to the last moment she died resigned and without a struggle. The funeral, on Thursday, was from the residence, Rev. A.C. Brown officiating. Interment took place in Rochester cemetery. NOTE Melissa went into premature labor in which her and her infant child did not survive. They were buried at Rochester cemetery. On 14 Oct 1924, Melissa was disinterred and moved to the Masonic Cemetery, in Tipton, and buried next to her husband, Isreal McLain - per WPA records. The McLain wall and a concrete base remain at Rochester cemetery. It is uncertain, at this point, if any graves remain in this plot. Because of this, keeping the integrity of the burial plot has been deemed vital by trustee and caretaker Thomsen. Updated 22 Dec 2019
